Circular Products Lab
Our Circular Products Lab provides access to advanced infrastructure to test, validate, and optimize circular solutions.
We are pleased to share these facilities for co-creation with companies and research institutions.

The themes of the Circular Lab
Biobased materials
We develop and test sustainable, biobased alternatives to conventional raw materials. Through pressing, moulding, laminating, and coating, we determine the most suitable mono- or hybrid material for your application.
Lifetime extension
We extend product lifetimes through surface treatments, reversible coatings, and durability testing. In this way, we help companies use raw materials more efficiently and reduce their environmental impact.
Products based on recyclates
Not every material is easy to recycle. We explore innovative ways to reuse difficult-to-recycle materials, such as composites and coated surfaces, in valuable applications.
Lightweight
Thermoplastic composites offer significant potential within the circular economy thanks to their reusability. In our lab, we press and pultrude these materials and test recycling possibilities for new applications.
Our most frequently used equipment
Salt spray test
Metals are exposed to salt mist in an artificial environment to determine how weather conditions affect the corrosion behaviour of a product.
Condensation test
Coatings are exposed to an environment with 100% humidity to assess how prolonged moisture exposure influences corrosion behaviour.
UV Weathering test
A UV sunlight simulation or weathering test aims to accelerate the damaging effects of sunlight in combination with temperature and humidity.
Spray cabinet
The spray cabinet enables the uniform application and testing of resin systems for composites and coatings under controlled temperature and air circulation.
Ovens
The ovens are used for uniform heating, curing, and conditioning of materials with precise temperature control up to 400 °C.
Presses
The presses combine elevated temperature and hydraulic pressure for the controlled forming and curing of materials.
Infrared heating
Using metal foil IR heaters, thermoplastic composite sheets can be efficiently heated above their melting temperature. The setup can also be used to accelerate drying or curing processes.
Paper recycling line
This lab-scale setup processes paper and cardboard products to assess recyclability and fibre yield.
Laminator
The laminator allows materials to be heated and pressed together under controlled temperature, pressure, and speed.
