Shared learning event: Styrene-free & Recycling Solutions for Glass Fibre Composites

Are you looking for low-styrene solutions? Are you interested in recycling options for your glass fibre thermoset composites? This event is for you! Join at least 25 other companies in the discussion towards a more sustainable future for composites.

Our glass fibre composite market faces two significant sustainability challenges:

  • To lower styrene emissions. Driven by regulations, alternative styrene-free resins and styrene-capturing technologies are introduced in the market. They will lead to a healthier work environment in the composites industry.  They will also lower environmental impact of the process chain significantly.
  • To recycle/recover composites into new quality products. In support of a circular economy, resources need to be reserved as long as possible. The decommissioning of large volumes of glass fibre composites, like wind blades, will pave the way for other sectors towards more circular solutions.

These challenges are a concern for the whole supply chain. More than ever, collaboration over chains and topics are needed to rethink materials and processes towards a more sustainable future. In this event, Sirris will support shared learning and discussions around these two topics between industrial stakeholders.

Programme

The morning session will focus on the prevention of styrene emissions, with in-depth discussions and presentations about possible material solutions, production solutions, legislation information and alternative materials.

In the afternoon session, the focus will shift to recycling technologies for thermoset composites, where the state of the art of several recycling methods will be discussed and an overview of important Flemish projects about recycling of wind blades is given.

Both sessions are independent, allowing you to choose whether to attend one or both sessions. This event will be a valuable platform for shared learning, inspirational talks and networking. It can be your next step towards a more sustainable future for thermoset composites!
