Engineer Additive Manufacturing

My experience in powder processes allows me to identify the best strategy for an optimum result. Working with selective electron beam melting (EBM), selective laser melting (SLM) at Sirris and cold spraying during my PhD studies has given me a broad overview of the different metallurgies involved, complemented by my experience in the aerospace industry. It made me realize that engineers need to rethink their manufacturing strategies and applications, and I can help you achieve that mindset.

Expertise

  • Metallurgy
  • Powder processes
  • Selective electron beam melting (EBM)

Work experience

Recently, I’ve started a new project on the manufacturing of ferromagnetic materials (Fe-Si and NdFeB) by means of various additive processes. The overall target: using new designs and improving raw material usage to reduce eddy current losses. Additionally, Sirris has acquired a portable XRD system (based on the Sin² method), which has helped me understand how stresses build up in additive manufacturing processes.

Studies

  • PhD in Materials Science – Université Libre de Bruxelles – 2007
  • Master in Engineering: Materials Engineering – UCLouvain – 2002
