I started working for Sirris in October 2021, as Ambassador Artificial Intelligence. I advise companies to prepare for a future based on data and artificial intelligence. My focus is on helping them to improve existing processes, and to build smarter products & services. This involves a lot of listening to understand the specific business cases. It also includes showing examples of the power of artificial intelligence at other companies, to inspire and to inform about the possibilities. Finally, I make it personal and practical through interactive workshops, at individual companies, to detect interesting pockets of data and to find opportunities for the introduction of AI.
I’m passionate about technology in general, digital innovation, agile software development, lean start-up, privacy, road safety, running, … With my engineering degree in computer sciences (obtained in 1996 at KU Leuven), complemented by 25 years of working experience, I have a broad view on technology, and on the typical processes in the industry.
In the beginning of my professional life, I worked as a software engineer in companies such as AT&T and EMC. I was responsible for designing and building software for fraud detection systems, anti-money laundering systems, test automation systems, embedded systems, …
In 2006, I co-founded the KU Leuven spin-off TriPhase. We sold our rapid prototyping tool for power electronics to many university labs around Europe, and beyond. The tool has helped many engineers and PhD students with their research and testing on topics like smart grids & electric vehicles. For TriPhase, I participated in a couple research projects, on topics such as evolutionary validation/verification/certification and functional safety.
My latest assignment prior to joining Sirris was at KBC, where I helped create Kate, the virtual personal banking assistant.
