Give your scale-up a boost!

Scaleup Vlaanderen has developed a broad guidance programme for innovative digital scale-ups, which are on the verge of an (international) growth acceleration. Sirris, Agoria and imec's business accelerator imec.istart joined forces for this unique programme. This translates into an extensive offer and programme for the coming months.

Managing a business is not always easy and in the end you are the one who has to make the final decisions. Therefore, you may feel the need for a sounding board; someone who can give you advice because they have gone through it. That is exactly what we want to achieve with Scaleup Vlaanderen. Our consortium - consisting of experts from Agoria, Sirris and imec.istart - organises various monthly activities to guide Flemish tech companies to the next step, with the support of VLAIO and a few carefully selected partners.

From coaching processes to international missions and technology screenings: the varied offer of Scaleup Vlaanderen might just give your scale-up the right boost too.

Testimony: Bingli

HGPs, specialists and surgeons have to make a decision, which may have major consequences in a matter of minutes, on the basis of just a few questions. Belgian company Bingli wants to help them with this from now on. This chatbot asks patients 70 to 100 per cent of the necessary questions in advance, so that during the doctor’s appointment the doctor can focus on the real added value. Bingli’s team expanded to ten people in recent years due to its growing success among hospitals and physicians with private practices. A medical tech company like Bingli has its own characteristics, but at the same time it encounters problems that other scale-ups also struggle with, such as attracting the right profiles or rolling out internationally.

Tom Van De Putte: “We had already gone through a number of incubator and accelerator programmes, until we came across Scaleup Vlaanderen. The past few months Bingli followed the group coaching process organised by Scaleup Vlaanderen. We soon realised that the level is much higher here. The combination of theoretical group lessons and practical one-on-ones was exactly what we needed. In the meantime, we have already made many changes to our business, for example in terms of pricing. Above all, it was a good way to question ourselves and the way we work. In addition, the lessons provided a framework for making certain decisions. An example of such a decision is the mapping of relevant foreign markets.”

Even if you ask other alumni why they chose Scaleup Vlaanderen, you will see that they often answer the same way. They say that Scaleup Vlaanderen gave them real in-depth knowledge and helped them with advice beyond general introductions. 'Scaleup' in the name is not random: no superficial sessions for starters, but meetings where we zoom in on one specific problem together with you and sometimes with other entrepreneurs.

The agenda for the coming months gives you a good idea of what you can expect from Scaleup Vlaanderen.

A new series of group coaching sessions will start on 23 February. For six months, a maximum of ten entrepreneurs meet for intensive sessions that consist of theoretical parts and peer-to-peer learning with the group and the professional experience of the coaches, usually ex-entrepreneurs themselves.

In addition, several sessions are scheduled to address specific challenges that scale-ups struggle with. The first one is the Master Class on Internationalisation on 9 February. During this session, two experts will help you make informed choices for your foreign expansion and tell you how to put the theory into practice.

Are you thinking of expanding your business to Germany? In that case, make sure to register for the online acceleration programme in cooperation with UnternehmerTum! Together with this leading incubator, affiliated with the Technical University of Munich, a solid programme for ambitious entrepreneurs is being developed. In ten sessions, you will dive deep into one of the most interesting markets for Flemish scale-ups.

In the Technology Screening you can present your product or service to imec and Sirris technology experts. Finally, there is Finance Matchmaking, which prepares companies for a series A capital round through a pitching workshop and immediately directs them to potentially relevant investors and/or investor events.

Do you want to know more about everything on the planning? On 24 February, a virtual information event will take place for which you can register here.
