Research results on offshore wind turbine design and maintenance

The Optiwind SBO project consortium partners and their event partner OWI-Lab are holding an open meeting on 2 December about offshore wind. The gathering is being held at Siemens PLM Software in Haasrode. Six different items are up for discussion.

The Optiwind SBO project has been focusing on the design and maintenance of increasingly large offshore wind turbines. You will be given an insight into the researcher's results with respect to drive-trains, blades, foundations, grid connection and maintenance concepts. Six items come up for discussion during the lecture:

  1. Substructure decoupling with inconsistent experimental data
  2. Test setup for validation of estimation techniques on mechatronic drivelines
  3. Detailed structural simulations of wind turbine blades: a way to improve our understanding
  4. Emulated inertial response with wind turbines
  5. Foundation monitoring on offshore wind farms

This is followed by a keynote presentation given by Siemens, one of the leading offshore wind companies. The afternoon event includes a reception giving you the opportunity to revive existing contacts and make new ones within the offshore wind sector.
