European Patent Register assistant

The EPO is offering an updated version of its online tutorial on the European Patent Register that includes its recent changes.

The European Patent Register is a complete and up-to-date source of information on the status of European patent applications at each step of the grant procedure. This free online service is valuable for finding out at what stage of the procedure a European patent application is, establishing if an application has led to the granting or not of a European patent, checking if any oppositions have been raised, consulting the correspondence between the EPO and the applicants, etc.

Using it requires some learning which can be followed via interactive online training modules that have recently been renewed. The European Patent Register assistant consists of four learning units. Each unit features an introductory video and a couple of theory chapters. Each chapter ends with exercises for you to test what you have learnt.

You can also contact the Sirris Patent Cell which can give you information about the Register or undertake searches for you.
