Futures By Design helps SMEs in regions of lower economic success in the North Sea region to use data analytics to innovate, grow and increase productivity

Context

SMEs are often critical to regional economies but their capacity for success can be limited due to insufficient access to data and the inability to analyse data to drive innovation and improved results.

Goals

Futures By Design (FBD) aims to enable less prosperous SMEs in regions of lower economic success to innovate, grow or increase productivity. The project will work with SMEs in each partner region, sharing knowledge, ideas and regional experiences to support SMEs to become more data-driven and better informed about the economic, technological, policy and supply changes that will shape their futures.

Approach

FBD will create a virtual transnational horizon-scanning and knowledge transfer (HSKT) hub connecting six real hubs in each region to support sustainable SME growth, innovation and productivity.

Target group

This project is intended for SMEs that do not yet have any experience with data science (or are at a very early stage of their data journey) and are exploring the possibilities of using data science to solve a specific business problem/challenge. In Belgium this project focuses on the regions of Antwerp, East and West Flanders.
