This European/Flemish project aims to develop a guidance programme tailored to each SME employee, taking into account the changing knowledge and skills associated with the digital transformation that takes place within many companies.

Objective

'Everyone on the digital shop floor', will develop a customised guidance path for each SME employee, determine the maturity level of the companies on this basis and develop roadmaps tailored to the SMEs, thus arriving at a practical roadmap tailored to the SMEs.

Specifically, the guidance path to be developed will take care of the competence and skills revolution that can accompany a transformation to digitalisation within a company. Here, not only technical skills and competences will be examined and mapped out, but also behavioural competences.

Approach

Coaching trajectories consisting of 2 phases tailored to an SME:

  • diagnostic phase consists of a systematic needs analysis of SMEs that grades them according to their development needs in terms of competences, digital ambition level and their current maturity level.
  • In the prognostic phase, we get a picture of the solution options and formulate a shared solution agenda and roadmap.

In the first phase, we offer SMEs a roadmap to sharpen their digital vision and strategy. We do this using an existing maturity model for digital transformation: Industry 4.0 Maturity Index and a self-developed ambition model. Besides ambitions, in this phase we want to define roles within the SME, which we link to challenges in the transformation process. On the other hand, we focus on competency needs among employees.

In the second phase, we make the link to solution options from a clear picture of the SME's digital ambitions and competency needs. Depending on the maturity and ambition level, we link those competency needs directly to existing education, pathways, training courses, etc.

Target group

SME (focus to 50 employees from three sectors, manufacturing, wood and textile).
