Wind energy applications

The climatic test facility is mainly used by OWI-Lab, the application lab within Sirris that is focusing on wind energy innovation and R&D. The climate chamber is used  for the testing of large and heavy wind turbine components like gearboxes,  generators, power electronic converters, lubrication systems, pitch & yaw systems and either liquid filled or dry-type transformers at extreme temperatures and mainly for cold-start-up testing. For the cold-start-up testing of wind turbine gearboxes a dedicated no-load test bench can be foreseen for functional testing of cold-starts on the gearbox.
