Winter school focusing on functional coatings - materials, deposition and applications

The Flemish Doctoral Schools organise a winter school on the topic of “Functional Coatings”, during which contemporary topics in ink and coating chemistry and functional coating engineering are covered by international experts in the field and by doctoral students and postdocs from regional universities. The winter school addresses both industrial and academic research. Sirris too will contribute to this event.

The winter school is directed to PhD students and postdocs from Flemish universities, but also students from other, neighbouring universities and research centers are welcome. Also, the winter school will specifically address industrial researchers active in functional coatings or considering to start with functional coating research and development.

Three days

On the first day, international academic experts will guide you through all of these steps, from materials over deposition to applications.

During the second day, industrial experts from different fields and with different applications of these functional coatings, will introduce you to their business and explain you the chemistry, physics and engineering that is involved to achieve innovative functional coating applications. In the afternoon of the second day a “meet the expert” session will be organised. During this session, students, academic and industrial experts will be brought together for several one-on-one meetings to discuss topics related to functional coatings and to match their knowledge and expertise to start new and promising initiatives. Sirris will give a presentation on the Smart Coating Application Lab and will participate in the "meet the expert" session.

On the last day, selected oral presentations from PhD-students and postdocs are scheduled to inform you about the latest and ongoing research in the broader field of functional coatings.

As this winter school brings together experts and researchers from academia and industry, it is the perfect occasion to network between industrial and academic partners.
