Webcast: A good trademark for your project

What are the key characteristics of a good trademark ? It must be distinctive and available. It must be registered, but also kept alive.

A trademark is a sign that enables a company's (or a group of companies') products or services to be distinguished. This sign can be comprised of one or several words and a logo, but also a colour, a sound, etc. It is only valid as a trademark if it is distinctive, licit and available. A brand name can be acquired by applying to an intellectual property office according to procedures applicable for the territory within which protection is requested. In order to be efficient, a trademark must not only be filed but also kept alive.

These aspects are developed and illustrated with examples in the following video by the lawyer Ph. Laurent.
