In the context of the event 'Optimising Wind Farms In Cold Climates' which took place on 17 and 18 October in Antwerp, OWI-Lab welcomed a delegation from the wind industry. The event focuses both on the commercial and technical complexities, which form an obstacle for the operation of wind farms. This was perfectly demonstrated in the climate chamber of OWI-Lab.

The Sirris Coating Lab has recently purchased a TQC Scrub Abrasion and Washability Tester to perform scrub abrasion and washability tests on coated materials.

In order to meet the needs of today and tomorrow, product developments are heading for ecology, sustainability, higher performance and longer service life. This also applies to coatings. Such innovations cannot come about without thorough testing. With their state-of-the-art testing laboratory, Sirris is meeting industries’ needs.

Coatings can be used to protect materials against the effects of rust, mould or dirt. This is why the Nanex Company, a manufacturer of protective products, is collaborating with the Sirris Smart Coating Lab in using nanotechnology to develop and improve existing product formulations.

Our test labs are probably one of our strengths. We do not only want to keep it like that, we would also like to expand in the future. High time to introduce you to these extended services, during a few open house days.

Last year, OWI-Lab's test facility made some new investments, in order to support the wind power industry with functional testing of electrical machinery as if it were installed in an existing wind turbine. CG Power Systems was one of the first companies to perform tests.
