Possibilities of AM in the wind industry in the picture

The Sirris OWI Lab and department on additive manufacturing are standard values in their industry and quite proud of it too. The fact that not only Sirris considers the combination of both specialist fields a promising development can be derived from an article about 3D printing in Windpower Monthly, where Sirris was given the opportunity to say something.

Windpower Monthly, one of the most famous professional magazines on wind energy recently dedicated a large article on 3D printing in the wind industry and on that occasion interviewed Stijn Lambrechts, expert in additive manufacturing at Sirris. In the article additive manufacturing is presented as a gamechanger for the wind industry, which is what Sirris is also studying.

3D printing is being hailed as the way to eliminate labour-intensive manufacturing and assembly processes while avoiding structural weaknesses. Little wonder that the wind industry is looking into the best ways to use the technology to reduce the cost of energy.
