Materials 2015 focusses on properties, applications and solutions

The ‘Materials’ trade fair on April 22 and 23, 2015, an organisation of ‘Mikrocentrum’, has a practical purpose, based on the three cornerstones of 'properties - applications – solutions’. Keynote lectures on material trends and practical stories about material applications ensure scope. Sirris will also be giving two presentations.

In addition to (new) materials and material properties, a lot of material techniques will be discussed at Materials 2015, such as specialized machining, heat treatment, forming techniques, surface techniques and connecting/joining techniques. These techniques make appropriate solutions for the desired functionalities possible. Think of lightweight materials that are of great importance for both the automotive and the aerospace industries.

Furthermore on the show floor, there will be a lot of attention on solutions of all kinds for ‘material challenges’  such as corrosion, adhesion, temperature resistance, reuse, recyclability, wear resistance, friction resistance, UV resistance and formability. Finally, subjects as analysis techniques, scarcity and damage assessment will be discussed.

Three cornerstones

The intrinsic cornerstones will be discussed from different applicational areas, whereby interesting ‘cross-pollination’ may occur. This can inspire visitors and provide new insights. The event is aimed at product developers, designers and engineers.

The three cornerstones are also continued to the lecture programme. In addition to scientific keynote lectures on material trends, there are practical stories about successful applications of materials and processing. Over forty lectures by independent experts and exhibitors are anticipated. Furthermore, there will be live demos and theme squares. Sirris will also be present with a stand (no. 29) and ‘smart-materials-expert’ Olivier Gramacci will give a presentation about 'Hardware Design - the Internet of Things'. As specialist in additive manufacturing Stijn Lambrechts will give a presentation on '3D printing applications in aerospace'.

This free trade fair will take place on April 22 and 23, 2015 in the NH Conference Centre, Koningshof in Veldhoven (Netherlands). You can find more information here.
