Masterclass explains the benefits of resin transfer molding

In a series of masterclasses about key technologies for composite production you will learn about a few quick, green and flexible production methods. After three successful masterclasses, we are now starting the fourth and penultimate masterclass. The theme of this masterclass is Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) and RTM light. You can also join us on 18 September for an exciting mix of theory and practice.

The masterclasses ‘Composite production of tomorrow’ are part of the Generation Composite project. Here, the SLC-Lab will present key technologies for the quick, green and flexible manufacturing of composite materials.

Concretely, we will show companies technology that:

  • Allows for a quicker production than the classic hand lay-up
  • Favours a greener, more environmentally friendly production, thanks to closed mould technology
  • Creates a flexible production environment, thanks to reconfigurable moulds and inexpensive prototypes.

What to expect? In the morning there will be a theoretical part on RTM and RTM light given by speakers of Composite Integration (UK), the Institute of Textile Technology, RWTH Aachen University, Germany and Sirris. In the afternoon you will have the chance to create a series of prototypes with the SLC team.

For more information, you will find the programme and all practical information here.

These masterclasses are part of the NIB2 project Generation Composites with support from Agentschap Ondernemen and Nieuw Industrieel Beleid.
