The EU intellectual property office - a new name

On 23 March 2016, OHIM, the office for harmonization of the internal market is changing its name to become EUIPO, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Another change is that one of the intellectual property rights administered by the Office, the Community trade mark, will now be called the "European Union trade mark".

These changes continue the trend of legislative reforms of the EU trade mark, whose principles are described in the article "Towards new European legislation on trade marks" (04.03.16) in Techniline.
