Customised demand-driven innovation for SMEs

It emerges once again from response obtained before and during the Innovationbeurs held in Ghent at the beginning of October that Sirris' approach - tailor-made advice given to industry on request - works well for SMEs.

In the weeks before the trade fair SMEs could post their questions online. Following this approach, the companies in question received answers to their questions during the innovation fair and found out what innovation could mean for them. More specifically, people were looking for detailed information concerning technical challenges and there were also questions about financial support linked to taking their ideas a step further. Sirris experts Bas Rottier, Ilse Evenepoel and Luc Coppers dealt with a whole range of diverse questions.

Several SMEs had been referred directly to Sirris by the Innovationcentrum, or via other knowledge centres. This not only illustrates the effective collaboration existing between the different partners inhabiting the innovation landscape, but also that Sirris distinguishes itself from pure R&D centres with its innovation-driven, specialist approach. Every day Sirris provides support and knowledge on demand to companies whenever they find themselves struggling with problems or challenges concerning technical innovation.
