Basalte recognised for fast growth and innovative, energy-efficient concepts

On October 22nd 2014, Deloitte Belgium announced the winners of the Technology Fast50 competition. Basalte was the winner in the 'Clean Tech & Energy' category, and next to this also won third place in the overall competition.

The Deloitte Technology Fast50 Competition has been around for five years, and is an annual selection of the 50th fastest growing technology companies in the Benelux. This competition was founded to encourage and promote entrepreneurship and fast growing technology firms in the Benelux. This year saw the first fully Belgian edition. The 50 nominated Belgian companies were divided into four separate categories: IT & Digital Solutions, Clean Tech & Energy, Biotech, Nanotech & Medtech and Internet, Media & Telecom.

Basalte was the winner in the category 'Clean Tech & Energy' because of their continuing investments in innovative and energy-efficient concepts. Basalte creates designer products for domotics that increase comfort in modern houses in an energy-efficient manner. "Our products are not only provided with a pure and timeless design but also contribute to the energy-efficiency of a modern home," says Klaas Arnout, Managing Director of Basalte. Next to this well-deserved first place, the young company from Ghent also won third place in the overall competition for the fifty fastest growing technology companies in Belgium. This victory gives Basalte an extra boost to continue with the same innovative flair and to grow further as a company.

Basalte is no stranger to Sirris: they have been regularly collaborating on various projects for years now. Domotics products, for instance, used to be machined, but by growing demand another production method was introduced. Sirris provided advice for a transition to plastics injection, in the design of moulds, and in material choice.
