Network for Flemish digital scale-ups

Along with 10 other partners, Sirris joined this ambitious initiative, supported by the Flemish Agency for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO), aiming to give entrepreneurship a boost.

For Sirris the focus here is on young and innovative digital companies that have outgrown the start-up phase and are ready for accelerated growth, as these scale-ups have the most innovative power and are major sources of extra employment. However, for this growth potential to develop and the company to actually grow, specialist support is needed, and so in 2016, Sirris teamed up with Agoria to launch a learning network for scale-ups.

According to Software Engineering & ICT expert Omar Mohout: "There is a need for specific support for ambitious digital companies experiencing a period of strong growth. Growth in the software industry requires a different approach because it is different from the 'non-digital' sectors. These companies face the twin challenge of achieving external and internal growth simultaneously."

From start-up to scale-up at WebTomorrow 2016

On June 16, the second edition of the WebTomorrow event - an initiative of Bloovi and partners - was held at Flanders Expo in Ghent. Under the slogan "Digital is the new normal", speakers, leading companies and interested start-ups came together to learn from each other. The lectures and activities focused on three themes: disruption and innovation, future marketing, and Belgian start-ups. As a partner in this initiative, Sirris was represented at this event by one of the keynote speakers, Omar Mohout. We also offered start-ups a Readiness Quick Scan, in which by answering 10 multiple-choice questions, companies gain an understanding of their growth potential and receive customized tips for scaling up by a factor of up to 10.

€322 million in venture capital raised at tech meeting

On December 20, 2017, Sirris expert Omar Mohout brought together more than 60 companies from the '€1M Club', a select group of Belgian technology companies that recently collected at least € 1 million in venture capital, for a breakfast meeting as part of the Scale-up project. This group raised € 322 million in venture capital.

Founders and CEOs of 62 high-growth technology companies participated in the event in Ghent, which has been referred to for good reason as "the scale-up city of Belgium" in Venture Beat. The event was designed to be a casual get-together involving just entrepreneurs, with a view to getting to know each other and exchanging peer-to-peer experiences.
