How data mining can improve your product and service offering

Although 'Digital Transformation' and 'Industry 4.0' lead to transformation, many companies still struggle with actual implementation and how to use their product data to their advantage. To help these companies and increase their competitiveness, Sirris, Hahn-Schickard and the Forschungszentrum Informatik have initiated the collective research project 'InsightProducts - Actionable Insights into Product Service Delivery’.

Many companies, manufacturing companies in particular, are eager to learn how to collect and mine data about their products and use it, in order to improve their service offering. Although the promises from 'Digital Transformation' and 'Industry 4.0' are truly transformational, implementing them requires significant elbow grease and insights into novel (often hyped) technologies, including how to deploy and use them.

Gathering qualitative product data requires a well-thought and optimised sensor selection and deployment, adapted to the product infrastructure, configuration and operating environment. To help companies in this process, Sirris, Hahn-Schickard and Forschungszentrum Informatik (Research Center for Information Technology) have initiated the collective research project 'InsightProducts - Actionable Insights into Product Service Delivery’ under the CORNET framework. The project will run from September 2018 until August 2020.

Optimal use of sensing & communication technologies

InsightProducts targets the enhancement of digital products, based on actionable insights into their design, delivery & operations, based on acquired data intelligence knowledge of the connected product. Its goal is to support companies in the optimal use of sensing & communication technologies, to capture qualitative product information, resulting in more actionable insights of the product requirements and customers’ needs.

Are you interested in innovating your business and increasing your competitiveness by gaining and using insight in your product information? Through InsightProducts you may find the support you need!

First user group meeting on 11 October

In order to drive the research in the project, about 20 companies from both Belgium and Germany have already joined the project user group during the project development phase. Would you too like to learn how to acquire qualitative product data and exploit this data to improve your product and service offering? Join us at our first user group meeting on 11 October!
