2 million European trade marks

The European trade mark has growing success with companies.

The registration of a community trade mark, now called the European Union trade mark, is producing its effects throughout the EU with a procedure unique to EUIPO.

EUIPO now counts 2 million trade mark filings for registration. The Czech company, Crefoport sro, made the two millionth filing (on 5 May 2019).

A symbolic number for EUIPO, 25 years after its creation in Alicante. The millionth filing was registered in 2011. Only in 2018, the Office received 152,488 filings (4.16% more than in 2017), coming from almost all countries and regions of the world.

In other words the significance of the trade mark for companies doing business in the European Union market and, more generally, wishing to value their immaterial capital.

EUTM filings

The filings of European trade marks coming from Belgium are also growing and currently exceed 2,500 trade marks per year.
